Introducing Backgammon 3.0
Introducing Backgammon 3.0
This is the moment every serious backgammon player has been waiting for: on October 07, 2009, TrueMoneyGames will launch Backgammon 3.0!
TrueMoneyGames has been known for years for its outstanding software, but our development has never ceased.
We are about to go far beyond what we have already achieved. Backgammon 3.0 is more than just a major software update, it's a whole new concept. And we hope - no, we are convinced - that you'll like it!
Goodbye Rating
The concept of player ratings as a means to help adjusting a player´s strength is a good one - theoretically. Unfortunately everyday routine showed that this allegedly objective number seduces some, especially clever individuals, to do everything they could to keep their rating number as low as possible, to their advantage and the detriment of other, honest players.
Let us remind you of the original goals of TrueMoneyGames: We entered the market to make you experience the great game of backgammon, its excitement and fascination, in an online environment just like you were used to from the "real life". Do players have ratings written over their forehead in the offline backgammon world? No, they dont. And that is why we decided to go back to the roots, to get real again and skip the rating system. Backgammon 3.0.
Rake News
Different from our competitors we listened to our players and have lowered the rake for matches and single games - to as low as 1.4% for high stakes. Furthermore we introduce a 15€ cap to the rake, independent of the stake. Go ahead and read everything about the changes on our updated backgammon rake page.
Multi Tabling and Other Highlights
With the launch of Backgammon 3.0 you can play up to 4 backgammon games simultaneously with completely scalable windows! The move times for matches and single games have been reduced to 30 seconds. This means more action at the tables and less waiting for the opponent to make his move!
We are also introducing ghost checkers to indicate the possible moves. Just hover over the checker you would like to move with the mouse and wait for the ghost checkers to appear. Never miss a move again with this brand new feature!
Impressed? Just wait till you see the changes made for our fair play campaign. Tired of players dropping to annoy you or to save some money? So are we!
Fair Play Campaign
To encourage continuous fair play we are increasing the dropper penalty to 20%. Another part of our solution is to abolish free disconnects and to turn the extra time into reconnect time. You can even make your move if you are on turn and your opponent is offline. Then all you have to do is wait for his extra time to run out - or start another game with our new multi tabling feature. It is now impossible to close the backgammon table until the session has been finished or resigned. This encourages all players to finish their games.
Games also can't be switched to private anymore, they are watchable by everybody. We have also done away with a major hassle that many players have grown uncomfortable with: it is no longer necessary to accept resignations. As to every rule, there is an exception. In this case it is with tournaments, where resignations that do not lead to the forfeit of the match must be accepted.
Screen Name Change
We are aware that removing the ELO rating system is a big step and we want to provide the same chances and a fresh start to all players. Therefore, every player is entitled to change his screen name with the introduction of Backgammon 3.0 for a new start at TrueMoneyGames.
Make the most of Backgammon 3.0 - it was built for you - and join us on October 7, 2009!
In case you have any questions concerning our new software you are welcome to contact our live support or Support(at)TrueMoneyGames.com. We also want to encourage our players to consult us whenever they have the impression that the game play is not fulfilling their expectations.
At TrueMoneyGames we take your feedback very seriously, because one day in the future its gonna be "Welcome to Backgammon 4.0!"
