Rating

In response to popular demand, TrueMoneyGames has introduced 5 Star rating for backgammon. The purpose of the rating is to help players play against opponents of their own level. The rating sytem makes the process of choosing opponents more transparent, and reduces the rake for high stakes players.

Players have a real money rating, there is no rating for play money.

All players will begin with a rating of 1500 and a silver star. Your rating will change as you win or lose matches. If a player's ELO is displayed in grey letters that means the player has played less than 50 games at TrueMoneyGames so far. In this case, the ELO number is still very volatile, hence less significant. The players ratings are shown below:

  1. 1800 + (red star)
  2. 1700 - 1799 (gold star)
  3. 1600 - 1699 (purple star)
  4. 1500 - 1599 (blue star)
  5. 0 - 1499 (green star)

Points will also be awarded on the match length and experience of the player. For example, if the player beats his opponent who has a higher rating he will be awarded with more points. If the player beats his opponent with a lower rating or if he loses to a higher rating player he will be awarded with less points. The rating in money games also depends on the actual amount won, not only on winning or losing the game.

The rating will change faster for new players at the beginning if they have little experience. However, the rating will eventually even out, based on the amount of games played and how many are won or lost.

To accommodate the new rating structure TrueMoneyGames have added new rules to the existing rake structure. These are indicated below:

  • Decrease of 50% rake if the rating of both players is over 1700.
  • Increase of 50% rake for the higher rated player if the rating difference is 200 or higher.

If a player is out of free disconnects and then causes a settlement by losing his connection, a 10% penalty is imposed.

Please note this applies to Backgammon only, and to Matches and Single Games only. It doesn't apply to tournaments.
